I hope you’re all recovering from a weekend spent at your local comic book shop for Free Comic Book Day and binge watching the entire Star Wars Saga (OK, just IV through VI is perfectly acceptable, too) in celebration of May the 4th! Star Wars Day is always fun, but this year’s has been especially exciting considering the announcement of the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII and the upcoming Star Wars Rebels animated series. We’ve talked about how we’re still bummed that The Clone Wars has ended in order to make way for the new series, but we had some of our doubts about the show quelled with the surprise release of the first Star Wars Rebels trailer yesterday.
There has been a lot of hype leading up to this—including character reveals, action figure announcements and a great panel at WonderCon (including an exclusive clip)— but this trailer is the first tangible thing most of us have gotten to see regarding the tone of the show. It seems like a fun romp across the galaxy with a rag tag team of rebels, including mandalorian Sabine (which Emily is itching to cosplay), Twi’lek pilot Hera, and Jedi Kanan (who’s reveal in this trailer, by the way, gave us chills). I’m sure there will be more to come before the series premieres in the fall!
