Personally, I’m not a HUGE fan of Ant-Man, but I have nothing against him. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who is a bit apprehensive about the upcoming movie — even it’s supposed to be one of the most important films in the MCU. I just can’t seem to get as excited for the Paul Rudd-led flick as I have been for other Marvel movies. And I’ve been asking myself: why should we go see this movie? Maybe this trailer will help answer some of our doubts.
First off, it’s a Marvel movie and despite the vast amount of media Marvel has released, nearly all of the content has been superb. That’s an accomplishment in itself, but even more impressive is Marvel’s success following Disney’s acquisition of the company. We’ve been enjoying awesome Marvel/Disney movies for years now, with many more to come, so why should Ant-Man be any different?
Recently, we’ve had the pleasure of making Agent Peggy Carter’s acquaintance, dealt some justice with Daredevil and met our future best friends, Rocket and Groot. These characters have quickly become fan favorites, and Ant-Man has a long history in the comics to draw past and future fans alike into supporting this movie.
Despite a shaky production process and the change to canon — that’s what happens when the Marvel heads decided to have Tony Stark invent Ultron instead of *SPOILERS* Hank Pym (Michael Douglas’ character in Ant-Man) and they have to go with the second Ant-Man — we should give Ant-Man the benefit of the doubt. Besides, did you see the trailer? Evangeline Lily punches him in the face and he chills with ants! I’m willing to give it a shot.
Ant-Man hits theaters July 17.
