In a special event held at the El Captain Theater in Hollywood, Marvel announced a TON of Phase 3 stuff. Most of it we already knew or had been speculating about for weeks already, including the release dates for Thor 3, Captain America 3, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2. But there were definitely some surprises, most notably, A MOTHERFRAKING CAPTAIN MARVEL MOVIE IS COMING IN 2018. Carol Corps assemble!
Avengers: Age of Ultron will mark the end of Marvel’s extremely successful Phase 2 of films, and Phase 3 will start with the upcoming Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas. The full slate of movies and their release dates follows:
Ant-Man – 17 July 2015
Captain America 3: Civil War – 29 April 2016
Doctor Strange – 8 July 2016
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – 5 May 2017
Thor: Ragnorak – 28 July 2017
Black Panther - 3 November 2017
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 - 4 May 2018
Captain Marvel – 6 July 2018
Inhumans – 2 November 2018
Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 – 3 May 2019
Aside from the release dates and additions of Captain Marvel and Inhumans to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was also announced that Chadwick Boseman — who has played music icon James Brown and baseball great Jackie Robinson — has been cast as Black Panther. No word yet on who will be playing Captain Marvel (Katee Sackhoff or nah?) or who will be playing Black Bolt and the rest of the Inhumans, so we’ll all have to wait with bated breath for that.
So while we wait, let’s all just enjoy the Age of Ultron trailer for the thousandth time.
