Halloween/Comikaze Weekend Madness!

Hi everyone! It’s been a very exciting and busy last couple of months (Emily is with Disney Interactive now!), and it was all capped off by an amazing Halloween and Comikaze weekend! First was Halloween, which was spent primarily at the fabulous PittStop Comics.

Aretmis and Court of Owls cosplay

Peter and the rest of the PittStop team dressed up as the mega creepy Talons from the Batman Court of Owls series. I’m sure quite a few customers were terrified to come up to the counter. Emily, after discovering Take Back Halloween, opted to be the bad-ass original huntress  Artemis, Greek goddess of the hunt. Both costumes were comfy and flattering, which was exactly what we wanted for celebrating Halloween on a Thursday night.

And then the day finally arrived! Comikaze has a lot of sentimental value for us, since it was the first Con we went to together. It’s the perfect kind of Con: not too big, but big enough to attract big name talent like Alyssa Milano, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and, of course, Stan Lee himself. They also focus a lot of enjoy on indie creators and artists, as well as the fans.

No cosplay for Peter this year (but look forward to WonderCon!) and Emily had been chomping at the bit to wear her Hinata cosplay since it was completed. Of course, the majority of the cosplay belonged to DC and Marvel, so it was fun to have a pretty unique outfit on the floor. The day started off positive when a little girl with her mother, who was waiting at the crosswalk with us, waved at Emily and whispered, “Hinata.”

Hinata and ANBU

Hinta, mini-hinata and ino

Hinatas and Naruto

We ran into a few Naruto cosplayers, including an ANBU, a mini-Hinata and Ino and this funny couple, cosplaying as Naruto and Hinata. We formed a Hinata sandwich!

Comikaze is a fantastic place to see cosplays, and there were just many good ones, we wanted to at least post our favorite.

FamilyPool

The FamilyPool was funny and adorable. KidPool was really working it!

Batman and Gotham Bunnies

This lovely group of DC Bunnies turned Batman into a lover, not a fighter for the day.

This Huntress and Joker are actually apart of the Gotham City Grudge Match, a all-women’s wrestling and burlesque show.

We spotted this Aquaman drinking from the fountain (hilarious!) and he was nice enough to pose for us.

We were also able to reconnect with one of our fellow Geekies, Alex Wer! We met Alex and his lovely wife at the Geekie Awards and it was amazing to see his pumpkin creations in person and catch up. He’s a fantastic artist and a real mensch!

We didn’t end up getting one of the pumpkins but we did pick up some awesome merchandise!

We came across this table that had cards and posters of geek characters, but as cats! It was like heaven to Emily and we ended up picking Supernatural‘s Sam, Dean and Cass, along with BatCat!

Emily has to try and get at least one Huntress related item every Con, and she snagged this for only $2! She’ll join the other Huntress’ currently guarding our home office.

Peter spotted this awesome shirt and we both had to get one. He’s Charmander Shepard!

We are so grateful to have bought one of the last two Convention Exclusive Stan Lee Pop! figures! He is adorable and awesome and is sporting the Comikaze logo!

Aside from the cosplay, the creators and all of the merch, our two favorite additions to the Con were the retro gaming station and the Stan Lee cologne booth.

By the way, the cologne actually smells pretty damn good!

Doesn’t that couch look like Nana’s?

Finally, we wanted to get some good shots of Emily is her cosplay for our ever growing Cosplay Closet, and here are some of the favorites:

If you happened to take a picture of Emily, we’d love to see it!

Overall, it was a wonderful and fun day filled with lots of cool geeks! We’ll definitely be going next year, and keep an eye out for this year’s Con schedule!
