Marvel is on a casting binge in recent weeks, finalizing the cast for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy and beginning to add actors to the highly anticipated Avengers sequel. After some recent casting announcements were spoiled by the actors (looking at you, Vin Diesel), Marvel was quick to announce it’s has selected who will take on the role of big bad guy/ sentient killer robot Ultron: James Spader.
Marvel released this short statement:
James Spader will face off against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as the villain in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the sequel to 2012’s record-breaking “Marvel’s The Avengers.” The Emmy Award-winning actor will play Ultron in the Avengers’ much anticipated return to the big screen from writer/director Joss Whedon. The film comes to theaters on May 1, 2015.
There haven’t been many plot details released regarding the Avengers sequel, other than the fact that a few new characters will be joining up and that Ultron will be the main villain. It was previously revealed that the movie would probably not follow the same storyline as the amazing Age of Ultron comic book series that was released earlier this year, and that Ultron’s creator, Hank Pym, would not be included. So you guess is as good as ours as to how Ultron and Spader will be used in the film.
I’ll just leave that right there for you guys…
